๐Ÿ‘ฅ Who Can Be Covered

  • Mandatory Proposer: Alumni
  • Eligible Members: Alumni (Self), Spouse, Up to 4 Children, Up to 2 Parents, Up to 2 Parents-in-Law
  • Not Eligible: Siblings
  • Rule: Alumni Self must enroll before Parents or In-Laws

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Covered Benefits (Base Plan Summary)

  • Room Entitlement: Single Private AC
  • Pre-hospitalization: 60 days | Post-hospitalization: 90 days
  • Ambulance (Maximum): Rs. 10,000
  • Sub-limit: None | Co-pay: Zero
  • Modern Treatment: 100% of Sum Insured | AYUSH Coverage: 100% of Sum Insured

๐Ÿ’ณ Premium and Payment

  • Payment Frequency: Annual only (no monthly, quarterly, or half-yearly option)
  • Tax Benefit: Eligible for Section 80D income tax deduction
  • Premium Rating Basis: Based on age of the oldest family member, group claims ratio, and is City-neutral.
  • Payment Flow: Member pays via NITDAA portal โžก๏ธ Collected by Solvy Tech Solutions (Zopper) โžก๏ธ Transferred to Aditya Birla Health Insurance. (Receipt and policy issued by Insurance Company, NOT by NITDAA)

๐Ÿงพ GST Applicability

  • Group policies (including NITDAA): 18% GST applies (retained as commercial group service)
  • Total Cost Formula: Base Premium + 18% GST
  • Note: GST was recently removed only for individual/family retail health insurance, not for group policies.

๐Ÿ’ก Ideal Coverage Strategy

  • NITDAA Base Cover (3L - 5L) can be used as deductible for STUP cover on top of that (SI 15 Lakh to 200 Lakh). However STUP policy can be opted for higher deductible of 7, 10 and 20 Lakh also. Having a Base policy is not mandatory for STUP.
  • If employer cover lapses (Retirement/job change), add NITDAA Base policy as a back up cover.

๐Ÿ”„ Recommended Transition Strategy

  • Do NOT immediately cancel existing policy when joining NITDAA. Maintain overlap for at least 1 year.
  • During NITDAA's first year, Pre-Existing Disease (PED) claims go to existing policy (no waiting period).
  • After first renewal of NITDAA, PED wait is waived; then cancel old policy.

  • Family remains fully covered until the next renewal date.
  • For subsequent renewals, surviving spouse/family must contact the NITDAA Alumni team for portal access.

  • Available as an extension of alumni's policy.
